What’s Involved in the Installation

If you’re replacing an old unit, your plumber starts by disconnecting and removing it, then inspects the sink flange and mounting assembly for wear before installing the new disposal. For a first-time installation, this also involves confirming there’s adequate under-sink electrical access, or coordinating with an electrician if new wiring is needed.

Once mounted, the disposal is connected to both the sink drain and, if applicable, the dishwasher drain hose. Your plumber will run water and test the unit’s operation before finishing, confirming there are no leaks at any of the connections and that the disposal grinds and drains properly.
